Don't Protect The Wildlife Too Much

Desperate for the investment that the Lewis Wind Farm would bring to the local economy, the Western Isles Council has unveiled what may be it's last throw of the dice - they're trying to persuade the Scottish Government that it misinterpreted EU rules about wildlife conservation and that those regulations aren't supposed to be so strict.

Can wildlife protection laws be "too strict"? As much as I'd like to see the wind farm being built, I think the Western Isles Council is barking up the wrong tree here. They're trying to demonise those that love the local wildlife, whereas they should be appealing to those very people who may witness the disappearance of the fauna due to global warming anyway.
