Carbon Neutral Letting

Do you ever feel like you're living in someone else's drug-induced dreamworld? Tonight, a drunken dwarf walked into the back of me.

I'm not sure if dwarf is the right politically-correct terminology for the vertically-challenged. And I'm not exactly sober myself, having been at the pub to watch the football. But it was definitely a drunk dwarf who nutted my upper-buttocks.

I'm not usually one to stop dead in the middle of the street. Okay, not often. My attention was distracted by a "To Let" sign on Leith Walk. It was much like all the other To Let signs which dot the city, except this one had tagged on to the end "All our properties are Carbon Neutral".

Curious, I took note of the name of the company, apologised to the drunk dwarf, and looked them up when I got home. They're called Grant Management, and seem to have their head screwed on about the environment. They offer their staff fresh fruit and fair-trade tea and coffee, and a bicycle allowance if they cycle to work. All their properties are fitted out with energy saving appliances and CFLs, and the tenants are informed of the local recycling schemes. On top of all that (and here is where I think they are claiming to be carbon neutral) they have started a charity called Global Trees which aims to plant trees worldwide for a small donation. You can read about their environmental and community initiatives here.

It's unusual to find a mainstream company so overwhelmingly embrace a green ethos, but it should definitely be encouraged which is why I'm highlighting them.

Yes, it's good to see companies acting eco-responsibly. And it's even better to see that more and more companies are catching on.

Who knows if it's still pc to say dwarf these days. Aren't dreams weird though. Lol.
